What You'll Need:
- Recycled wine/beer bottles
- Spray paint (I chose black and purple)
- A well-ventilated area
- Gloves
- A tarp or mat
Instructions:
- Follow instructions on the back of your spray paint can, most likely you'll need to shake the can for a good 10 seconds before using it.
- With gloves on, test a section of the wine or beer bottle FIRST before attempting to spray entire surface. The best way to do this is to simply spray the bottom of the bottle-- this will help you decide which paint will show up best depending on the base color of the bottle in question.
- Once you've decided what paint color belongs with which bottle, being spraying in an up and down motion away from your body. Try not to over spray it (as I did, basically) unless you want a drippy, oozing look. Note: you may need to apply various layers to get a nice, bold color in the end. Wait at least 2 minutes between coats to do this.
- Allow bottles to dry for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight before handling. This is best done in a cool, dry place.
- Tip: Want to create a unique look? Then, for the first coat, spray paint the bottle a solid color (I chose black for this). Wait for it to set up for about 2 minutes before spraying the secondary color (purple) over the original coat. Do this sporadically to create a dappled, uneven finish worthy of a whimsical witch.

Cauldron not included.. |
Behold, your wine and beer bottles are instantly transformed into potion bottles overnight! Now, I chose to label my bottles, of course. But, this can be easily done by heading to Walmart and getting a set of spooky labels for about $2. Want to create your own, customized tags? Then, pop into your local craft store and browse through the scrapbook for some with a chalkboard finish. You may need to add a bit of double-sided tape to get these to stick to the spray painted surface, but then you can be sure to have all your future magical endeavors carefully labeled for future reference. Enjoy!
